What did we do at dBm 2025

dBm 2025 program

Construction of the test hardware based on ideas and circuits from Uwe Schüler and Ralf Schreiber based on Starvation Synth and Chaosz. Detailed information via KulturgüterSchuppen.

our dBm research system consists of these modules :

  • Power supply : USB powered, LiPo battery, 5V out
  • Power starving controller :  voltage and current control with  potentiometers & CV  inputs
  • CMOS oscillator (D.U.T.) : various topologies of Schmitt-Trigger based squarewave oscillators
  • High impedance buffer & amplifiers: line and feedback outputs Potentiometers for gain and feedback
  • C-multiplier:  electronically variable capacitance with potentiometer and CV control. Acts as capacitive load for D.U.T.
  • triple CV out pseudo random pattern generator : for controlling CVs of power staving controller and C-multipliers
  • vactrol module : DIY dual vactrol  with exponential CV control for potentiometer replacement in D.U.T.

DRKMBNT

music with self-soldered sound tools

DRKMBNT is a live act that performs its music with self-soldered sound tools. The sound tools were mostly developed by friends with whom DRKMBNT regularly meets privately or at soldering festivals. From time to time, DRKMBNT modifies these tools, as in the “Tiny Techno Orchestra” project. The orchestra consists of 10 circuits, each made up of a CMOS chip, a few resistors and capacitors and photovoltaic panels. Lamps are used to make the orchestra sound.

The music of DRKMBNT is improvised, from time to time a video or a live recording is published on the band's homepage, only very rarely are records produced.

DRKMBNT loves improvisation, loves the moments when the orderly turns into the disorderly, when he doesn't know how things will continue musically and technically. But fortunately, new possibilities constantly arise, musically, aesthetically and technically.
