Already Soldered Pt.II

DRUMKID

This time I present DRUMKID a lo-fi aleatoric drum machine by Matt Bradshaw Design. You can buy it following the link (either fully assembled or as a kit). I took the kit and soldered it at the Circuit Control Festival 2021 in Dresden. It took 60 minutes or so and was really easy to solder. Matt is a coder and so everything is well structured.

Drumkid generates rhythms using random numbers. This tutorial video shows how it works:

Features/specs
  • Battery powered (3xAA) (or optional USB mini cable)
  • 3.5mm audio output (headphones/aux)
  • MIDI clock/CC input
  • MIDI note/clock output
  • 16 adjustable parameters
  • Tap tempo
  • 36 save slots
  • Open source design with editable firmware
  • Hackable case and circuit board, designed for customisation

You can upload your own samples to DrumKid using this online tool: https://mattbradshawdesign.com/drumkidtools/samples.html
