Wanderlust!!!!!!!

No gigs, no traveling, ....

Wanderlust!!!!!!!

March 26, 2021 - Reading time: 2 minutes

We suffer a lot from the fact that we can't play concerts and also traveling is almost impossible. The suitcase is ready, but when will it be again that we can leave for the station to go south or east.
Fortunately we have been spared from Covid19 so far and have used the time to learn new software, new synthesizers and new ways of communication.

Bitwig is a very powerful DAW that encourages fast music production. We are currently working with Bitwig Studio 16-Track to see if the DAW is Buddha's Like. It also runs on Linux, which makes us very happy because music production on Linux is our goal. In 2023, the slow migration should be complete.

We also enjoy the Vital spectral warping synth by Matt Tytel, well known for the OSS (open source software) synth Helm. We decided to use the Vital Plus version for now, because we like to make our own sounds anyway. Some sounds and wavetables of the presets are so performance intensive that our studio computer starts to jerk. We hope for improvements through updates. Or we are forced to redesign the memory-intensive sounds if we like them, so that they need less power. But the synth is GIGANTIC! And Matt made Vital OSS!

We also learned Pigments by Arturia, a super sweet synth who allows us to integrate our field recordings and morph them with everything within Pigments.

If you have Jit.Si, you don't need proprietary video conferencing software anymore. Jit.Si keeps us connected worldwide and that is very good!

Please stay healthy and see you soon!

About

We compose music with passion & vision, aural travelogues for the open-minded!

The Smiling Buddhas float easily between Ambient, Illbient and morphed Techno structures. They create aural travelogues from their extensive travels to create audible spaces for lucid daydreams.
