About the project "Beyond The Water"

„Jenseits des Wassers / Beyond The Water" ist eine Sound Installation von Wolfgang Dorninger mit künstlichen Vogelgeräuschen. Ab und wann tauchen die hybriden oder synthetischen Vogelkulturen von "Jenseits des Wassers" auf und schaffen mit ihren Gesängen ein sinnliches Environment, einen Denkraum in dem sich brennende Fragen zu Migration, Gentechnik oder Biotechnologie leicht verhandeln lassen. Die Versuche des Menschen mittels Technik Qualitätssprünge in der Natur zu evozieren, sind unter dem Gesichtspunkt zu diskutieren, dass „die Kultur wider der Natur sein kann" (Patrick Dandrey).

Es entsteht bei „Jenseits des Wassers / Beyond The Water" ein metaphorischer Klangraum, in dem hybride Vogelwesen die Entfernung des Menschen zwischen Natur- und Medienerleben thematisieren. Das Sound Design löst dabei das autonome Naturempfinden ab und schafft eine neue Wirklichkeit durch das Hybride.

"Beyond the Water / Beyond The Water" is a sound installation by Wolfgang Dorninger with artificial bird noises, from time to time the hybrid or synthetic bird cultures of "Beyond the Water" appear, creating with their songs a sensuous environment. An environment to contemplate or discuss today's key topics like migration, evolution or biotech. The human attempts to evoke quality leaps in nature by means of technology are to be discussed from the point of view of "the culture can be against nature" (Patrick Dandrey).

"Beyond the Water" creates a metaphorical sound space in which hybrid bird beings address the distance between nature and media experience, while the sound design replaces the autonomous sense of nature and creates a new reality through the hybrid.
