Eine Schausammlung von Wolfgang „Fadi“ Dorninger
Die Ausstellung im Ursulinenhof Foyer im OÖ Kulturquartier ist seit 15.7.2018 Geschichte. Ich hatte drei Wochen eine großartige Zeit mit aufmerksamen Gästen, die mir viele lange Gespräche schenkten und Acts, Vortragende und Workshop-Leiter die wesentlich den Erfolg der Ausstellung mitgeprägt haben.

Letzter Termin Ars Electronica 2019: Cassette Culture Node.Linz stellte bei Ars Electronica 2019 aus. Nur einen kleinen Teil der Sammlung, aber klanglich eingebettet in die Sound Installation "It started with Cassette Culture!" von Wolfgang Dorninger. Informationen finden Sie hier.
Cassette Culture Node.Linz zeigt, wie der Linzer Wolfgang „Fadi“ Dorninger aus seiner musikalisch-künstlerischen Einsamkeit in Linz ausbrach und im globalen Netzwerk der Cassette Culture aktiv wurde. Die Ausstellung beleuchtet diese Parallelkultur aus dem Handlungsraum von Dorningers Kassettenlabel Die Ind (1983 – 1994) und den Linzer Bands Monochrome Bleu und Josef K. Noyce. Mit Hilfe des Cassette Culture Netzwerks tourte Dorninger mit beiden Bands quer durch Europa und mehrmals durch die USA. Unter dem Motto "Contact, Document and Exchange" entwickelte sich ein Aktionsraum, den die Protagonisten bis heute nicht verlassen haben. „Du konntest nur dabei sein, wenn du Kontakt aufnahmst und du konntest nur dabei bleiben, wenn du regen Austausch pflegtest und einen Knoten (Node) zum Laufen brachtest.“ Mit zunehmender Dichte und weltweiter Vernetzung entstand eine aktive und vernetzte Community. Treiber dieses gemeinschaftlichen Handels waren Tape-Compilations. Lokal vernetzte Dorninger die Linzer Undergroundszene mit dem „Fadi The Sampler Linz“ (1984 - 1988) und international mit dem „Tape Report“ (1985 – 1990).
In der Ausstellung Cassette Culture Node.Linz öffnet Wolfgang Dorninger sein Archiv bestehend aus Tapes, Fanzines, Briefe, Folder, Flyer und Videos und legt dabei Strategien dieses Netzwerkes frei. Die Ausstellung geht auch der Frage nach, ob Cassette Culture mit seinen Strategien Tools für das heutige Musikschaffen bereitstellen kann. Mittels Vorträgen und Workshops wird ausgelotet, wie radikal Artificial Intelligence die Musikproduktion verändern wird, wie Zukunftsmusik aussehen kann und ob altmodische Begriffe wie Haltung, Authentizität und Do It Yourself noch Tragkraft haben.
Wolfgang Dorninger wird täglich durch die Ausstellung führen und im Rahmenprogramm zur Ausstellung finden wöchentlich Workshops, Konzert- und Vortragsabende statt. Die Ausstellung wird, so Dorninger, "Musicmaniacs" und "Tapelunatics" ganz sicher entzücken und kunst- und kulturinteressierten Menschen neue Perspektiven eröffnen.

An exhibition by Wolfgang “Fadi” Dorninger
The exhibition in the Ursulinenhof Foyer in the OÖ Kulturquartier has been history since 15.7.2018. I had a great time for three weeks with attentive guests who gave me many long conversations and acts, lecturers and workshop leaders who contributed significantly to the success of the exhibition.

Last date Ars Electronmica 2019: Cassette Culture Node.Linz exhibited at Ars Electronica 2019. Only a small part of the collection, but sonically embedded in the sound installation “It started with Cassette Culture!” by Wolfgang Dorninger. Information can be found here.
Cassette Culture Node.Linz shows how Wolfgang “Fadi” Dorninger from Linz broke out of his musical-artistic loneliness in Linz and became active in the global network of cassette culture. The exhibition illuminates this parallel culture from the sphere of action of Dorninger's cassette label Die Ind (1983 - 1994) and the Linz bands Monochrome Bleu and Josef K. Noyce. With the help of the Cassette Culture Network, Dorninger toured with both bands across Europe and several times through the USA. Under the motto “Contact, Document and Exchange”, an action space developed that the protagonists have not left to this day. “You could only be there if you made contact and you could only stay there if you maintained a lively exchange and got a node running.” With increasing density and global networking, an active and interconnected community emerged. Tape compilations were the driving force behind this communal trade. Dorninger networked the Linz underground scene locally with the “Fadi The Sampler Linz” (1984 - 1988) and internationally with the “Tape Report” (1985 - 1990).
In the exhibition Cassette Culture Node.Linz, Wolfgang Dorninger opens up his archive consisting of tapes, fanzines, letters, folders, flyers and videos, revealing the strategies of this network. The exhibition also explores the question of whether Cassette Culture and its strategies can provide tools for today's music-making. Lectures and workshops will explore how radically artificial intelligence will change music production, what future music could look like and whether old-fashioned concepts such as attitude, authenticity and do-it-yourself still have any validity.
Wolfgang Dorninger will guide visitors through the exhibition every day and workshops, concerts and lecture evenings will take place every week as part of the accompanying program. According to Dorninger, the exhibition is sure to delight “music maniacs” and “tapelunatics” and open up new perspectives for people interested in art and culture.
